Rosacea

Psoriasis_2

Rosacea is a common skin condition which presents with redness of the face, small visible blood vessels on the nose and cheeks, and pimple-like breakouts. This skin condition can also affect the eyes (ocular rosacea) presenting with symptoms such as dryness, redness, burning, and itching. It most typically affects middle-aged women.

Rosacea is a condition that worsens with time, but is also cyclic. Unfortunately, there is no cure for rosacea. Self-diagnosis and treatment are not recommended, as some over-the-counter skin applications may make the problem worse.

  • Gels or creams may be prescribed by your dermatologist. Results can be seen in the first three to four weeks of use.
  • For faster results, your dermatologist may prescribe an oral antibiotic.
  • Laser surgery may be used to treat persistent redness; the laser will close the dilated blood vessels, diminishing redness.
